Junior, Seaside High School

As a student at Seaside High School, Jasmine Schermerhorn loves English class. It’s her favorite part of school because she enjoys the learning environment, has a wonderful teacher, and she appreciates her friends in the class. She also plays for the Seaside Girls’ Soccer team and loves the sport.

When it comes to her activities outside of school, she loves spending time with her family. They enjoy having game nights, traveling, and going camping together. She also loves writing and reading, as well as spending time outdoors hiking or going to the beach. Jasmine says the best part of her community is its willingness to support students, especially at athletic events like football, basketball, and soccer. The community is always there to cheer for teams.

Jasmine says that she is most looking forward to the Regatta’s involvement in the Navy Dinner and the Portland Starlight Parade.

    Senior, Seaside High School

    As a senior at Seaside High School, Leah is involved in numerous clubs and activities including student government, Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America, and National Honor Society. She was a captain on the girls’ soccer team, plays on the girls’ golf team, and loves being able to connect with her classmates through school activities.

    Outside of school, Leah and her family are big fans of soccer, attending Timbers and Thorns games, as well as exploring our local beaches. She appreciates how supportive Clatsop County is of the youth in the community, donating time and funds to youth programs to give kids unique opportunities. She also volunteers in her church’s children’s ministry department and has been planting Book Nooks around the area as part of her Pacifica Project!

    After graduation, Leah will attend Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego to study business administration and organizational communications. She hopes to attend law school afterward and focus on work that supports women and children who have suffered abuse.

    When asked what she was looking forward to the most about Regatta, she said, “All of it! I am looking forward to all the parades, and getting to know and mentor the new court over the next months! It’s going to be a great year!”

  • Princess Lillian Bigby

    Princess Lillian Bigby

    Junior, Astoria High School

    Princess Lillian attends Astoria High School and is actively involved in the dance team, Astoria Pizazz. She is taking a heavy course load of all AP or honors classes and really enjoys them. This is made possible because she has friends in her classes and says “my teachers are really cool. I feel like I’m learning so much from all of them.”

    Outside of school, Lillian continues her love of dance as a senior company member of the Little Ballet Theater at Maddox Dance Studios. She danced the role of Clara in the 2022 production of “The Nutcracker!” She also loves spending time outdoors with her family, camping, rafting, and watching Star Wars films. Her other favorite hobbies are reading constantly and playing the piano, a talent inspired by her grandma. She loves the history of the region as well as how connected and involved the community is, supporting schools and small businesses.

    As far as Regatta, Lillian is “looking forward to making more connections with members in the community, and getting to have a mentor. And then parades of course!”

    Junior, Seaside High School

    Princess Lindsey loves being involved in leadership opportunities, most currently serving in the role of junior class president. She says her favorite class in school is woodshop because she enjoys creating things with her own hands and with the help of machines.

    Outside of school, she is involved heavily with 4-H. She puts her leadership skills to work in this area of her life as a State and County Ambassador, Western Oregon Retreat Leadership Development board planning committee member, and a member of the Summer Conference planning committee. She is also a representative for the Coastal Region Extension Community Advisory Network and a youth Director’s Advocacy Cabinet member. In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys playing sports, showing horses, woodworking, and horticulture projects as well as spending time with her family! She appreciates the small-town nature of the community and that when one family faces hardship, there is a huge showing of support from a loving community.

    Lindsey said that she is looking forward to being outside her comfort zone and trying new things as a Regatta princess and is excited to create friendships that will last a lifetime with her fellow court members.

  • Princess Amanda Nairn

    Princess Amanda Nairn

    Junior, Warrenton High School

    Warrenton High School student, Princess Amanda loves being involved in leadership opportunities at school. They allow her opportunities to help her community and to meet new people. She especially loves “Spring Fling Week” in which the school has activities all week that raise funds for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Key Club also gives her additional chances to connect with the community and build relationships. Amanda also loves participating in track because her teammates have become friends and she appreciates the coaches.

    Amanda enjoys quality family time outside of her school life. She and her family have the most fun traveling, snowboarding and skiing, and playing games. When asked what her favorite part of her community was, Amanda said, “How close everyone is. Everyone in my school is very caring and willing to help each other.” She appreciates how the school staff is so involved in the lives of the students.

    Amanda’s most anticipated part of being a Regatta princess is attending the Portland Starlight Parade. “My grandparents are very excited and proud that I am a Regatta Princess, but they live in Portland, so this is the only event they will be able to attend. So, I’m very excited to have them see me in this parade.”
